An impressive array of classic classics at the start of the MisFortune 501

The rumours are true!  We're looking at running another MisFortune 500 event in early 2010.  Schemes are being hatched and plots plotted.

For those of you that are two young to remember the good old days of the previous MisFortune 500s, the rules are roughly this:

  • Buy a car, preferably a classic, for $500 or less
  • Drive 500 miles overnight
  • Write very bad poetry and then share it
  • Sleep in budget accommodation
  • Drive home
  • Swear to yourself that you'll never do it again (our memory fades with time)

There's a little bit more to it than that but that summary gives an indication of what it could be like.

One of the main things is that the cheaper, older and weirder your car, the more points you start with.  Also, the more people you have in your car, the more points you get.

So if you've always had a hankering to partake in this unique event, start looking for a (very) cheap classic car.
